| Students chosen
by the homebound coordinator are enrolled through a password-protected web
site. Classroom teachers are informed by email and provided with several
options to relay the work required of the students in each of their courses.
Students are greeted by Nexus staff and supplied with download instructions for
the classroom software, a handbook and CDROMs of textbooks if appropriate. Nexus then trains the student and begins classes with teachers assigned for the required courses. School districts vary in the number of hours of actual classes per week allowed for homebound students and their schedules reflect this. Each student has an advisor in the program to ensure excellent communication among the student, school and teachers. School system staff with assigned passwords can monitor progress by accessing the student management database where they can read notes on attendance, review assignments and view grades. |
