| Nexus provides real time, online instruction to public school students who are unable to attend a normal school program and have been placed in homebound or hospital situations. These students are typically chronically ill, emotionally disabled, pregnant, suspended for disciplinary problems, or otherwise displaced. Through online technologies, Nexus Learning provides professional teachers in all disciplines enabling students to keep pace with their classmates and eliminating the management and liability for school systems of a corps of traveling teachers.
Classes meet on a consistent schedule throughout normal school hours and beyond, depending on the student's availability. Beyond the class, students have continuous access to the online classroom materials and the chalkboard work to assist them in completing assignments. When curricular goals are common, students are grouped so that they may participate in discussions and benefit from peer input, just as they can in a traditional classroom. Classroom teachers can stay involved by choosing the curriculum to be covered from a number of options: state standards, school pacing guides, or chapters from the several major text books supported by Nexus Learning. Nexus staff monitors each student's instruction, focusing on the work and reporting required by the school district, and the special circumstances of the case, if any. We would be happy to discuss your district's homebound needs to determine how Nexus can be a solution for you. Click on Contact Us to the left to get more information. |
